I did a little online shopping for the first time ( yes yes people i am so lame =/ ]. Well my friend is getting married so i ordered this dress from Forever 21 seeing as it would be cheap buying it online than buying it in a store here.

The Anti-Gravity Man

Johan Lorbeer is a German street performer. He became famous in the past few years because of his "Still-Life" Performances, which took place in the public area. His installations includes "Proletarian Mural" and "Tarzan", which are famous in Germany. Several of these performances feature Lorbeer in an apparently impossible position.

On May 14, 2008, an Azande high court accused Lorbeer of practicing witchcraft. The basis of this accusation is a recently published metareview, which compiled and analyzed the data concerning rates of impotence among his male (and German female) audiences. Thus, he has cancelled his plans to perform his "Thinker" pose while perched atop a pregnant white rhino.

Although this trick seems genuine, it is not magic. He manages these positions by hiding his actual arm under his clothing and the 'arm' that is seen sticking to the wall is a support bar.

Here’s a little clue on the trick; His arm is the supporting bar, and his real arm is hide inside his cloth.

Barack Obama Loosens White House Dress Code

Just over a week into his new digs, and Barack Obama is already shaking things up in the White House. He's changing up the dress code and having a small shindig for Congressional machers.

President Obama in a meeting last week in the Oval Office, where his predecessor required a coat and tie at all times.

He's ditched the jacket-and-tie-only rule for the Oval Office that his predecessor George W. Bush mandated , while also instituting a weekend business casual dress code for the White House staff. Time to open up that L.L. Bean catalog, Obama staffers, and pick out your perfect Saturday khakis.

Obama has also using the space to entertain a little. On Wednesday evening he held a cocktail gathering for some House and Senate movers and shakers of both parties he'll desperately need in the coming months was reportedly a success. According to Slate, he's part of a long tradition of presidents who gets things done by unhitching a notch or two in the evening hours :

" Harry Truman favored bourbon and branch water. (As vice president, Truman had just arrived to have a bourbon with House Speaker Sam Rayburn when he got the call that FDR had died.) When he was president, LBJ came to the Capitol on several occasions for an after-work drink with Senate Republican leader Everett Dirksen. [...] FDR won the presidency on a platform of ending Prohibition. Every evening, including during the war, Roosevelt mixed drinks in the Oval Office from behind his desk, before him a tray equipped with whatever he needed for the martinis or old fashioneds he was mixing. "

While it may be traditional, Obama is now taking some lumps for sipping libations while the economy burns. News that wagyu beef was served at the cocktail party has raced around the conservative blogosphere today, raising questions of why the president would serve something that can cost up to $100 per serving when hundred of thousands are losing their jobs. Typical is this comment from ThatSamIam at Michelle Malkin's blog :

" Anyone surprised? Of course they will spend big on everything. That’s what socialist progressive liberals do because they consider our money their money. "

If the Obama White House is going to be a more casual affair, could we suggest maybe something a bit more low-key for the next shindig? Some deviled eggs and one of the Safeway vegetable plates, perhaps.

Extreme Viking Festival In Shetland

The Largs Viking Festival started in the 1980s, as a small-scale celebration of the Battle of Largs. The Battle is also commemorated by the monument popularly known as The Pencil.

You cannot miss the importance of Vikings to Largs - with a number of references to Vikings around the town - including street names, the amusement arcade and the Viking who stands outside the Main Street chippie. There is also more serious commemoration such as the Vikingar, which is an interactive exhibit with storytellers telling Viking tales and myths and the yearly Håkon Håkonsson Lecture.

There was also the mysterious painting of the Battle of unknown origin done on the wall of what used to be the Victoria Hotel. Rediscovered some ten years ago sadly it has disappeared once more, since the Victoria Hotel is now no more and even the business which replaced it now lies derelict.

Originally, only a few Viking re-enactors were involved and the organisers attracted some of Largs homegrown talent – such as Benny Gallagher of Gallagher and Lyle, who is still going strong.

Over the years it has grown in size and in importance and so has the entertainment – in past years involving RAF displays over Largs Bay, longships and funfairs and every year a Viking Village is now built on the promenade.

Of course, the best-loved part is the finale on the second Saturday night where a large number of Viking re-enactors take to the field in front of the Pencil and recreate the Battle of Largs in all its splendour, followed by a ceremonial boat-burning and a firework display.

Almost 1,000 Vikings arrived in Shetland to celebrate the islands' Nordic heritage. The guizers, known as the Jarl Squad, came by boat...

...and other, less traditional, modes of transport .

Up Helly Aa festival saw the Vikings march through the Lerwick city streets...

...and quench their mighty Viking thirsts at inns .

The annual event, widely regarded as Europe's biggest and best fire festival, continued as a torchlight procession when night fell .

Tourism chiefs in Shetland estimated a crowd size of 5,000 onlookers as the procession made its way...

...culminating in a 30-foot longboat being set alight .

The festival began in the 19th Century and is descended from the ancient festival of Yule, which the Vikings held to celebrate the rebirth of the sun .

Although it originated as a Norse pagan festival it was then adopted by Christians to celebrate the end of the Christian Holy period with feasting and bonfires ..
