ONLY GIRL (IN THE WORLD)

I've always had a girl crush on Rihanna for her style and music.  But I'm crazy about her latest fire red hair in the "ONLY GIRL (IN THE WORLD)"!!!  I'm also envious of her super girly outfits in that video, especially that crystal headband (will be my next DIY project).  Such a fresh take from her previous bad-ass girl look.  Can't stop watching that MTV...

Should we obsess over her new MTV together?  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pa14VNsdSYM

OUTFIT DU JOUR - My Boyfriend is BIGGER

...my boyfriend jeans that is!  Nowhere to go, just lounging around my loft and trying on my new boots.  Sorry, too lazy to even comb my hair or put on make-up.

It's Friday and I...

... am becoming a regular in Hermanus. Going there again.
... am relieved that the house-hunting is over! Now for the big move and housewarming.
... don't even have one piece of furniture for the new place! Can anyone say 'stress'!
... knew from the start that Mariah Carey is pregnant. Why do celebs always deny it?
... had a hangover from hell yesterday and had to come to work! I never ate so much in one day.
... was home-alone last night, but had time to give myself a decent manicure and pedicure.
... am so heartbroken about my camera that got stolen last week. I took the coolest photos at the Moulin Rouge party and now I can't even share the pictures with you.
... don't really celebrate Halloween, but perhaps I should dress up anyway!
... decided that I would accept every friend request on Facebook from now on. So feel free to add me.
... am changing my hair style in a few days! Going dark with bangs!
... want to be a poster girl, but need 1000 followers on Twitter. Help a girl out please!
... am eating a large bag of cheese-and-onion flavoured popcorn! This might just be my new favourite snack.
... really need to get my ass to gym! I haven't been there in weeks. Seriously.
... can't wait for Wednesday! Meeting great people that will help my sister and I with our Twice the Taste website and ventures.
... really am happy that it's Friday and that the holidays are around the corner. Finally!

Happy Friday world. Let's get this weekend started!

Cover me

Oooh, my new obsession is a site I found on my sister's Blog, banana meet-cute. I've long been obsessed with mags. My Mum used to get British Vogue & ELLE when I was a kid and I ate them up. I knew what days they were delivered to the local shop and I still get excited when I pick up a latest issue, all shiny and smelling all papery. Then as a teen I got a subscription to Cleo mag for my birthday, which was fantastic. And I loved Dolly. But pretty soon it was back to Vogue & ELLE.
So as that I can pay my rent, I had to cull a lot of the mags so now the only regular ones I get are British Vogue & ELLE, Grazia, NW, Who, LOVE magazine and NO magazine, plus the sadly defunct Pavement. Although I recently wanted to buy a NO mag sub for a friend so emailed the editor of NO - who'd I'd met in passing years ago, and passed on my praise of this fab local mag - to a big NO reply! Very disappointing. Anyway....I digress. I keep my eye out for any spesh issues of W, V, Another Magazine, Nylon, Interview, ID, Details, GQ, Frankie, Russh, Remix and other country's Vogue & ELLEs - mainly Australian Vogue.
Sooo many covers are still etched into my brain and through these glossy little portals, I discovered a world of glossy, glitter-laden glamour. Dolly introduced me to Wheels and Dollbaby at age 13, and I'm still a fan and visit their store every time I visit Sydney. Shots by luminaries such as Mario Testino, David LaChapelle, Stephen MiseselEllen Von Unwerth, Steven Meisel, Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott and Sante D'Orazio adorned my walls and goddesses such as Helena Christensen, Kate Moss, Linda Evangelista, Nadja Auermann, Carla Bruni, Naomi Campbell and Cindy Crawford bore down on me. For almost the last 18 years, I've kept a file of crumpled favorite pictures ripped from fashion mags that have adorned my bedrooms in Auckland, London, Sydney, then back again. I still have them. I still get excited when pick up a new fashion mag, it's an obsession. An addiction. It's intoxicating! I could go on and on about my love of the mags, but shall cut myself off now here and share with you but a few of my fave past & present mag covers!

Diddy having Drama

Diddy  is going hard and making death threats due to his baby-mama kim Potter moving on to actor Jackie Long best known for his role in ATL as Esquire.  Also known for dating Serena Williams. The thing that I dont understand is why Diddy is trippin it didn't seem like he wanted to stay faithful when he was with Kim. so whats the big deal now.  Dang why doesn't he go back to messing around with Cassie like he been doing and stop trippin. Congrats Kim !!! But I dont know why Jackie would go from Serena to Kim?  Both people seem like they made down grades. But it's not always about the money the other person might treat them better ? what do you think ?

LET TAKE A MINUTE...

...to talk about shoes!  I LOVE SHOES.  I love heels, I love fats.  I love them neutral, I love them colourful.  I love statement-makers, I love shy basics.  love to buy shoes when I feel fat and depressed, I love to buy shoes when I need to celebrate a memorable occasion.

It was a debate wether I love shoes more or I love purses more.  But I come to realize that I cannot live without shoes (unless if I move to a beach-front resort).  I mean the shoes are part of my sillouette.  Heels (4" & up please) elongate my legs and give me a better posture!

Having collected as many pairs as  I have donated to the Salvation Army over the past 15 years (I'm an early bloomer), I now have a better understanding of what suit me and my lifestyle best.  Here are my rules regardless how much of a "deal" it seems:
  • Never buy shoes that don't fit - there's nothing uglier than shoes that are too big or too small (and let's not forget the possible injuries involved)
  • Never buy cheap-looking shoes - this is hard to describe but you just know when they look "cheap"
  • Never buy shoes that are not comfortable at the store - they're not going to get better after 3 hrs of walking in them!!
  • Never buy shoes if I can't think of a single occasion that I can wear them (unless they are collectables)
Here are some of my current favorites:

SHOPPING - L'Oreal Sample Sale

So I went to the L'Oreal sample sale today.  Stood in line for over an hour with my mom (thank god I decided not to bring my son with me!).  Once in, I immediately asked the sales clerk to direct me towards Kiehl's (sold out) and La Roche Posay.  As you can see, they have the Active C Day/Night Emulsion for normal to combination skin (which I picked up 2 tubes) and the Hydraphase UV Eyes (another 2 tubes).  I have the Active C already but for dry skin and find it leaves a bit of film on my skin so the normal to combination skin should be perfect.

Also got the Roger & Gallet Exfoliating gel for body.  I use to buy their lotion and shower scrub at Holt's until a discovered that they carry this brand at the sample sale.

Finally, a bunch of cheapies from L'Oreal: Extra-Volume mascara in blk, Extra-Intense liquid pencil in brown, Wear Infinite eyeshadow quad in Aquatic Escape, HIP cream shadow paint in Secretive and Nervy (love those two colours and hope they wont crease).
