Giant Amazing Sand Sculpture Festival

SAND sculptures are created during preparations for the FIESA 2009 International Sand Sculpture. Just take a look at this amazing view by the sand sculptors. Well, am really interested in this and sure want to be there...

Group effort ... an international team of 60 sculptors will turn 35,000 tons of sand into sculptures spread over 15,000 square metres for the festival.

The Giant Hand Of Atacama Desert..AMAZING !!

La mano del desierto (the hand of the desert) is not actually abandoned as most of the things you can find in this blog...It's a piece of art, and it's hard to tell if a piece of art is ever abandoned.

Nevertheless, the sight of this surrealistic giant hand in this very special location, the driest desert of Atacama, in Chile just moves me the same way as abandoned things do.

The artist behind it is the Chilean sculptor Mario Irarrázabal. the hand was constructed at an altitude of 1,100 meters above sea level. The work has a base of iron and cement, and stands 11 meters tall. The sculpture was inaugurated on March 28, 1992.

Mario Irarrázabal also made similar sculptures in Punta del Este, in Uruguay in 1982, in the city of Madrid in 1987, and in Venice 1995.

Amazing Artwork In Google's Office

When you had a stock trading at over $700 a share I guess you can throw some money around on making your office space fun and enjoyable for your employees. The Google Zurich office seems like a nice place to hang your hat for a few hours a day. I thought getting a no window office was cool, but after seeing this I feel like I got robbed.

World's Most Bizzare Sculptures In Public Places

Maddeningly bizarre, "cast in stone" - so people will have to live with it!

We have to say right away: we love these wicked additions to urban landscape - the weirder the better, less boring gray expanses and zombie-spawning parking lots! But we have to ask ourselves, what sort of oxygen these artists were inhaling, and what sort of psychedelic lunch they were eating before going on with something like this (see more than 30 examples below, some maybe slightly nsfw!). 

We number each sculpture, and let you vote in the comments which one is the most unforgettable, disturbing and bizarre! As for me, I am going to erect a metal scarecrow on the roof of my building to scare off police helicopters, or build a nutty shrine for squirrels in my backyard, all the while fighting off local zombing...er, "zoning" by-law enforcers.
