Jason Katim's shares with TV Guide certain spoilers for the upcoming third season of NBC's drama,
Parenthood, set to air on September 13th at 10 pm.
If you're like me and are completely obsessed with the show, these spoilers will be successful in holding you off for the next few months without giving too much away.
Spoiler #1- Crosby and Jasmine will not be reunited at the opening of season 3. Instead, we can expect Crosby to have at least one more fling, and Jasmine to be courted by a Dr who treats her son. Why toy with us then and make it seem as though the pair has reunited at the end of season 2? Well, Katim's reveals that the show wants to tackle the theme of co-parenting before the two reunite:
"We're always trying to look for ways on the show to explore things that are relevant to parenthood today that we might not have explored. We want to explore the idea of Jasmine and Crosby living separately, trying to go on with their lives individually, but wanting to both be there for their son, Jabbar, and the challenges of that." Katims said in an interview with TV Guide.
Fair enough! Down to earth themes like this remind me why I love Jason Katims and his work (specifically Parenthood & Friday Night Lights)
Spoiler #2: As reported by TV Line, Julia discovers that a young woman in her office is pregnant and looking to have her baby adopted. Ever since Julia discovered that it is unlikely she will be able to have another baby, she has become desperate to adopt. See where this is going?
Spoiler # 3: Amber will be moving out.
"One of the things we're exploring is Amber branching out on her own and getting an apartment. Amber really wants that autonomy and independence and yet she's still young and is going to lean on her mom. Also, from Sarah's point of view, that's a story of being able to let go a little bit and let your daughter make some decisions on her own and make some mistakes." Katims tells TV Guide.
Spoiler #4: According to TV Line, Adam and Crosby will be working together. If you recall, season 2 ended with Adam unemployed, so a new business adventure is plausible. What type of business you ask? Renovating an old recording studio.
Spoiler # 5: Sarah is reunited with an old flame, Mark Cyr (Jason Ritter.) According to Katim's, fans can finally expect to see Sarah in a long term relationship.
"We've had really interesting and great love interests for Sarah over the first two seasons, but we really wanted to do a story where we get her into a long-term relationship, or at least a longer-term relationship," Katims says. "Of course, we need to see the practical matters of how many episodes we'll be able to have Jason Ritter with us, but he will definitely have a more extended role than he had in the first season." Katim's tells TV Guide.
As for how the couple will reunite, expect an awkward reunion:
"In the first episode, Sarah is going to be at the high school having a heated argument with an administrator at the high school that Jason Ritter witnesses. So she re-meets him in sort of an embarrassing moment. She's going through something else in the episode and winds up talking to him about it and they reconnect."
Spoiler #6: Haddie and Alex will go through a rough patch at the start of season 3. According to TV Line, one of Haddie's friends shows concern that Haddie is not fully enjoying her senior year and urges her to be more social and party. You can see how this will be problematic for a recovering alcoholic, right?
Does that mean the end of Haddie and Alex? Ultimately, the end of Michael B. Jordan who plays Alex?
And no mention of Max or Drew?
Is it September 13th yet?
