Confession Time..

With the final movie of the series coming out on Thursday, the stars of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 have been all over the media this week. They have been photographed walking down the street, eating out, socializing, attending press confrences, and premieres worldwide. All of this is done in hopes of capturing one final moment of the stars of Harry Potter before the books and movies become one of the classics.

Ok now for the confession, here it goes: I've never read or watched a single Harry Potter book or film. I've also never read a book from The Twilight Saga, but I have seen some of the movies (you can thank Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner for that). Ahhh relief....

I don't know why I haven't gotten around to it, I have no real explanation. I love to read, I love to watch movies but for some reason, I have not read a single one of these ridiculously popular books. Every time a new film comes out and I see the overwhelming reaction of the fans, I vow to myself that I will read the books. I'm serious, the cycle has been going on since high school with Harry Potter.

As for Twilight, I'm ashamed to admit that I have the first installment and have yet to read it. After I watched the second film, New Moon, I figured it would be pointless to read the first two books since I knew what was happening anyways. I NEVER think that way, I've read Jane Eyre five times, The Outsiders at least a dozen times, and Love the One You're With whenever I have relationship issues. The logic I use when thinking about Harry Potter and Twilight is not like me and unprecedented.

I don't know if my subconcious is trying to stop me from selling out to big blockbusters and best sellers (which makes no sense because I am aspiring to be an entertainment journalist) or if I've simply convinced myself that sci-fi isn't for me. I just cannot explain my lack of interest in these two series. Trust me, I'm as frustrated with myself as you are frustrated with me.

So if you're wondering why I have yet to comment on either one of these two series, you have your answer. I am not familiar with the work and therefore, do not feel qualified enough to form an opinion on the content.

Once again, I am continuing the cycle and find myself asking, is it too late? Now that Harry Potter is over should I still read the books? I feel as though there are people reading this and screaming YES!! The question is, will I?

What about Twilight? I'm getting that same feeling:  Twi-hards are chanting yes, yes, yes!

I'll leave you with the trailer for Harry Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2
