Can You See Bradley Cooper As Satan?

Image taken from exposay.com

It has recently been confirmed by Legendary Pictures that Bradley Cooper will star as Lucifer in director Alex Proyas’ adaptation of John Milton’s epic poem Paradise Lost.

I had to read Paradise Lost twice in University for two seperate classes. It took a few shots before I fully understood the words on the page. I will admit it is a tough read but there are important themese worth sharing that I think will translate well on screen.

As for Bradley Cooper, he will play Lucifer, a fallen angel who has abandoned God and has become the ruler of Hell. Odd choice, right? When I see Bradley Cooper the devil doesn't jump at me...at all. However, if you've read Paradise Lost you know at times, the reader is supposed to sympathize with Lucifer. So maybe he is a good choice.

It will be interesting to see how the film will tackle the epic poems dated themes like obedience to God, a set hierarchy in the universe, temptation, and sin and transfer them into modern work.

As for whether or not I think the movie will make more people read the poem I'm not optimistic. Maybe.
I'm certain more people will buy the book with the intention of reading it but after a few pages, well, we'll see.

According to The Associated Press, the film is reportedly being shot in Sydney, Australia and is aiming for a 2013 release. I can't wait to see a teaser trailer.
