Last night's episode of The Voice was going according to my expectations until Adam Levine made a decision that surprised (and initially disappointed me.) More on this in a second.
First up was Team Cee-Lo. America voted to save Vicci Martinez insteak of Nakia, which was surprising, but then Cee-Lo saved Nakia, and the two favorites moved on to the elite 8.
I'm sad the cowboy was eliminated but Blake Shelton performing Honey Bee live absolutely made up for it.
Next up was Team Adam. America voted to save Javier, which was definitely expected. Along with Dia from Team Blake, Javier is one of the frontrunners favored to win it all.
Jeff Jenkins was supposed to be the one who Adam saved. Adam admitted to coming to the show expecting to save Jeff but then changed his mind at the very last minute and saved Casey Weston. At first I thought this was a big mistake, I still somewhat do, but when she performed "I Will Always Love You," a Whitney Houston classic, I was really blown away. I thought she'd fail miserably but she didn't, she made the song her own and I liked it.
I still don't think she's a strong enough competitior to win the show.
The final 8 are all solid performers but there were a few performers that really shined. Javier was one of them, he sang "Fix You" by Coldplay and I got chills. Other highlights included Dia's rendition of R.E.M's "Losing My Religion," and Frenchie Davis' gospel voice tackling Madonna's "Like a Prayer."
Fans are in for a treat -- an all-new elimination episode airs tonight, Wednesday June 22nd, at 8 PM on NBC. The elimination process is a little different this time around. At the end of last nights show, the judges each had to rate the performances and seal the results, which will be revealed tonight. Their input is worth 50% and America's vote is worth 50%.

Team Adam: Javier Colone
Team Christina: Frenchie Davis
