I know you have dated the type -- if you haven`t, you will, most women eventually do.
George Clooney is the perfect example of a bachelor for life.
You HAVE to know the type -- the kind of guy who is always in a relationship but will never settle down. A steady string of two or three year relationships followed by a break up, a brief period of being single, a string of meaningless hook-ups, then right back into another steady relationship.
For some, the cycle will go on until their vanity (and age) catches up to them and they feel the pressure to pro-create so they can leave their seed on the earth after they have gone. Some will feel pressure from family, friends, or society to get married and might do so briefly, but it will end in divorce and the act of matrimony will never happen again. Other men are not as concerned with children and will never marry, keeping on with this cycle until they are simply too old to care (or remember.)
If you still do not understand, take a look at George Clooney`s history with women.
In 1987 he dated and lived with actress Kelly Preston for two years.

In 1989 he married Talia Balsam -- the marriage lasted 4 years. Since his marriage, George Clooney has publicly announced on several occasions that he will never marry again!

That 3 year stint was followed by a rebound relationship with Melrose Place actress Brooke Langton in 1999. In 2000, he dated Two Guys a Girl and a Pizza Place actress Traylor Howard for a year and in 2002, George started another steady but stll on-and-off again relationship with actress Krista Allen for three years.

Naturally, after that media frenzy, Clooney made his way back to waitresses, starting a fling with Sarah Larson in 2007.

He met Canalis in 2009 and their relationship ended two days ago. The cycle goes on.

I think Leo Decaprio is another example of a bachelor for life. He has a similar history with women. Recently, he broke up with Bar Refaeli and now he is either rebounding with or dating Blake Lively. He's still young-ish so we will just have to wait and see.
The reality is, these women go into the relationship knowing who these men are -- heartbreakers who get away with it because of their looks and charm. In all fairness, I do not think these men are hiding the fact that they wish to remain bachelors for life -- instead it is likely that these women (like I did) convince themselves they can change him. Am I right?
