On May 14th, the recipients of the GLAAD Media Awards were presented in San Francisco at the San Francisco Marriott Marquis. The gala brings together 5,000 people including celebrities, corporate partners and attendees to recognize and celebrate representation of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered (LGBT) community in the media. The event also honours GLAAD’s hard work in their fight to achieve equality.

There were two previous galas in New York and Los Angels prior to the event in San Francisco.  Key winners included The Kids Are All Right for outstanding film and Kim Cattrall who picked up the Golden Gate Award.

The event was hosted by Glee star Naya Rivera, who plays the role of a lesbian cheerleader struggling to come out of the closet. Rivera wore a soft gold Camilla and Marc dress to host the event.
