Fashion From Day 8 at Cannes

Looking over last night’s fashion was disappointing. Since there was a lack of celebrities walking the red carpet, there was slim picking for my fashion favorites. All I have to say is thankfully, Kirsten Dunst was in attendance!

Kirsten Dunst in Rodarte:
The actress attended the premiere of Melancholia last night in this haltered dress from Rodarte’s Fall 2011 collection. The mermaid inspired number featured polka dots and a Swarovski embellished zipper at the side of the dress.

One of the latest trends has been the use of a prominent black or metallic zipper on shirts and dresses. Rodarte’s feminine twist is innovative and refreshing

Kirsten Dunst in Chloe:
Prior to walking the red carpet, Dunst attended a photo call for the film Melancholia. The pretty chiffon dress is more than appropriate for the semi-casual event. The vibrant color, pleated skirt, and ruched bodice add a summery flare to this piece.
Uma Thurman in Roland Moulet:
Film juror, Uma Thurman, walked the red carpet for The Cinema for Peace Charity Dinner in a long sleeved purple dress from Roland Moulet’s Fall 2011 collection. The dress flatters her figure, synching her waist and fitting like a glove.

Finally, there was one woman who opted for a look last night that I’ve never seen before. Take a look at last night’s oddest (for lack of a better word) look from Cannes 2011.
Charlotte Gainsbourg
I couldn’t find out which designer made this outfit, but something tells me he or she isn’t going to be running around looking for credit. The exposed bra and sheer dress is not done in good taste. Pick one or the other!

I think I'm most blown away by the fact that she chose an outfit that did nothing in terms of complimenting her body.

When it comes to fashion, I don’t consider myself a prude. My motto has always been if an outfit makes you feel good, go for it! However, I think I need to adjust this motto and include a little more detail: If your outfit makes people uncomfortable, think twice.

Think twice Charlotte Gainsburg!
