I refuse to complain about the slim picking of fashion pieces from Day 10 at the Cannes Film Festival if only because I’m still gawking at the gowns from the night before. They were that good… that numerous. It reminded me of this years MET Ball.
Here are some of last night’s highlights from the French Film Festival.
Elena Anaya in Elie Saab Couture:
Spanish actress Elena Anaya wore an Elie Saab gown from the Spring 2011 Couture line to the premiere of The Skin I live In. I love everything about this dress, the color, the sparkle, the slit, and especially the sweetheart neckline. The chunky necklace the actress chose to accessorize the gown with was unnecessary and almost ruins the look. Take a look at the model on the runway and see how her bare neck compliments the gown. Sometimes, less really is more!

Speaking of that infamous saying my mother and likely everyone’s mother preached, even though it works in this particular case, it’s not always true. It’s a faulty statement that I don’t agree with wholly, it’s tricky. Keep reading to see why!
Gwen Stefani in Armani Prive:
The singer walked the red carpet for the premiere of This Must Be The Place last night in a silk white gown by Armani Prive. This look is very Gwen Stefani: part edgy and part chic. The gown featured a black asymmetrical strap and cut out detail below the bust. Stefani matched her red clutch to her lips for a burst of colour.

Eve Hewson in Miu Miu:

Back to that saying, less is more. It doesn’t really apply in this scenario now does it?
