Oh break-ups! If they aren’t hard enough to begin with, it’s always extra pleasant when your ex turns out to be a real jerk. Today’s example, the muse that’s behind British sensation Adele’s heart-wrenching ballads.
Adele has reportedly been contacted by her ex-boyfriend who is demanding royalties from her debut album 19. The ex is claiming that since many of the songs are based on their break-up, he deserves to be acknowledged as the creative source and inspiration for her music and therefore, is naturally entitled to a percentage of her earnings.
What a winner!!
According to The Sun, Adele reportedly stated, “For about a week he was calling and was deadly serious about it. Finally, I said ‘Well, you made my life hell, so I lived it and now I deserve it’. He really thought he’d had some input into the creative process by being a prick. I’ll give him the credit – he made me an adult, and put me on the road that I’m travelling”.
I highly doubt Adele’s ex will see a penny of her earnings. Regardless, this is likely just a publicity stunt created in hopes of gaining some popularity and fame. I can’t help but wonder, does anyone really want to be known as the loser ex-boyfriend?
