53rd Annual Grammy’s Fashion Review

Typically, red carpet events have a surplus of fashion hits and misses but at the 53rd annual Grammy Awards, I found myself slightly disappointed with the pieces. Few gowns seemed worthy of a red carpet event. That being said, the overall fashion selection was still visually pleasing, as many spring 2011 trends were showcased on the red carpet. Stars sparkled in metallic, crystals, and lame gowns and accessories. Also, ruffles and statement trains were a popular choice for many stars that opted for longer gowns. Here is a countdown of my top five best dressed at this years Grammy Awards.

5-Eva Longoria in Ashi-
The simplicity of the cream and black colors, the femininity of the ruffles, and the sexy length earns Eva the number five spot on my list. Her statement drop earrings and color coordinated Brian Atwood pumps subtly adds just enough glam to her outfit.

4- Lea Michele in Emilio Pucci-
The Glee star put a new spin on the classic black gown with the daring slit, plunging neck line and lace finish around the waist. Typically, Michele tends to stick with more conservative, princess style gowns but she does well and succeeds in venturing out of her element. The black patent pumps and colorful Lorraine Schwartz cuff add some sparkle to the black number.

3- Selena Gomez in J. Mendel-
This champagne slip dress wears beautifully and accentuates Gomez’s petite figure. Sticking with the metallic theme of the night, her gown glitters with subtle sequins. Gomez pairs the ensemble with drop earrings and a matching Judith Leiber clutch. Minimal accessories are key with the current metallic trend, which Gomez undoubtedly kept in mind.

2-Heidi Klum in Julien Macdonald-
Only someone with a body like Heidi Klum could make this form fitting gold metallic gown look flawless. The piece hugs her body tightly and has flattering cutouts revealing her sexy bronzed skin. The
sparkling train gave the daring, sexy piece a classic, feminine vibe.

1-Katy Perry in Armani-
Simply put, she looks angelic. The white on white wings and train contrast beautifully against her colorful jeweled bustier and matching pumps. This is what red carpets are made for, cutting edge fashion forward pieces. Katy Perry undoubtedly deserves the number one spot!
