Not only are The Kills the most exciting rock band I've heard since The Vines & Spinnerette - the front woman is a kick-arse rock chick with sassy style and the pipes to match. Alison Mosshart is a swaggeringly cool rock chick (Who hates being called a rock-chick) in cigarette pants, leopard print jacket, Patti Smith hair and cupid's bow lips. "It's clear from her vaguely Ian Curtis-like stage robotics in the clip above that Mosshart had hipster inclinations even back in Discount. Still, her transformation from a scrappy, DIY punk into a fur-coated, chain-smoking vamp was anything but gradual." (see full article here) I love alsions' style, a cross between Hedi Slimane and Debbie Harry-style. Even sticking to mostly jeans & tees, she still manages to stand out from the crowd.
Despite becoming a fashion icon, she is typically cool about the fact:"I'm far more interested in style than I am in the fashion industry. I really don't care about that. But people with amazing style, really incredible clothes-it's an art and I appreciate it." Next, I discovered the The Dead Weather and was lucky enough to catch them in concert a few years ago. Alison is as stunning in person as she is in the glossies, with porcelain skin, raven hair and an amazing voice.
"She's living proof that you don't have to dress sexy to BE sexy. She doesn't need sequins and leotards to captivate her audience, and she doesn't have to give endless, opinionated interviews for us to know she's intelligent.
